Ever since IRON MAN in 2008, there was a teaser after the credits that made all of us nerds, fanboys/fangirls, and comic book geeks scream with delight and amazement as we heard Samuel L. Jackson say “I wanna talk to you about The Avengers Initiative.” Ever since THAT moment… all of us have been patiently waiting through the next 4 movies: IRON MAN 2, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, THOR, and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER that all left us small teasers for what was coming!! Now the time has come for it to take the stand and, honestly, it’s about damn time.
I saw the midnight premiere of this movie thinking that it would be really amazing, super spectacular, and godly. And…. it was. In every sense of that.
OMG THIS MOVIE WAS SO AWESOME!!! I freaking loved it! I mean what is there to really pick on? Ok this movie was not perfect… but it was pretty damn close!
FROM THIS POINT FORWARD THERE WILL BE MAJOR SPOILERS.
IF YOU DONT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT THE AVENGERS JUST TURN BACK.
IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE JUST TURN BACK NOW!!!
DON’T RUIN IT FOR YOURSELF!!! GO SEE IT AND DON’T LOOK!!!!
DON’T LOOK IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT!
OK YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED…
One of my major complaints with the movie is the premise of how Thor comes back into the movie. I know it is mentioned briefly that Thor gets to earth by “magic” and somehow Odin used a ton of it to get him there. But in the movie THOR, the bridge to the other worlds was destroyed by Thor in order to stop the destruction of that ice planet or whatever from Loki. And in the movie, they mentioned that the rainbow bridge was the ONLY way to get anywhere. Then Thor destroyed the rainbow bridge…. Yeah… I … I don’t get that. Honestly I feel that the loophole here should have been cleared up more.
Also.. I may get a lot of complaints about this comment I am about to say: Was not really fond of seeing THANOS at the end during the credits. I know who the guy is (just because I have seen him in some comics) but to be honest I really don’t have a good grasp on who he is. I think he’s a Thor or Iron Man villain right? I don’t know I’m just hoping he will be a good villain for THE AVENGERS 2. To be honest I really wanted The Red Skull to be the villain at the end. There’s a point in his timeline where him and the cosmic cube/tessaract become one and he’s like a “Super Red Skull” or something. Plus at the end of CAPTAIN AMERICA, The Red Skull ends up either being vaporized, OR, transported to Asgard. So… the signs were all there. I was just hoping Marvel would put two and two together and throw in The Red Skull. Hopefully he will be present in CAPTAIN AMERICA 2. I really hope he is.
I have to say that the best scenes involved The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and they were the best in the movie. There’s a scene where The Hulk is in Tony Stark’s building and then throws Loki around the room. Once it’s over, Loki is so stricken with pain that he makes a face like this 0____0!!! Honestly you have to see it to understand how funny it is. Also there is a part where Hulk and Thor are fighting those alien things and then when they stop, The Hulk punches Thor randomly in the face. It’s just so freaking funny and hysterical. Mark Ruffalo did a fantastic job in this movie and, while Edward Norton could not be The Hulk, Ruffalo did a really great job. You will not be dissapointed from his performance. He really does steal the show.
Other than that I am really glad that the story of The Avengers was really straightforward. There’s a war coming, The Avengers are asked to work as a team to stop Loki, they come together and stop him. Agent Coulson dies, the tessaract is taken back to Asgard, and The Avengers go their separate ways. There’s no side stories, no other confusing conflicts, no other premises. It’s just straightforward and it’s all great.
If you haven’t seen this movie then shame on you for looking. You really have to see this movie. GO see it now and be amazed at the glory that is THE AVENGERS!!!
My Score: 9.1
